We have an immediate opening for an experienced Electrical Test Technician - Motion Control in our Shrewsbury, MA office to support the manufacturing team by testing, troubleshooting, calibrating, and validating motion control systems and electrical assemblies used in industrial automation equipment.

What You Will Do: 

  • Perform functional, electrical, and performance testing of motion control systems and machine assemblies.
  • Configure and test servo motors, servo drives, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, encoders, and motion controllers.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Verify proper operation of multi-axis motion systems, positioning accuracy, speed, torque, and system synchronization.
  • Utilize electrical test equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, insulation testers, and signal generators.
  • Document test procedures, inspection results, and equipment performance using standardized quality records.
  • Identify root causes of test failures and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Adhere to 5S and lean manufacturing principles within an ISO 9001-certified environment.

 

Requirements: 

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), a related 2-year technical degree, or completion of an equivalent trade school program.
  • 2+ years' experience testing industrial electrical equipment or motion control systems. 
  • Experience with servo systems, PLC-controlled machinery, industrial automation, or robotics.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motors, power distribution, and industrial controls.
  • Proficiency using electrical diagnostic and measurement equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with ACS, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron (Delta Tau), Mitsubishi, or Bosch Rexroth motion control platforms.
  • Familiarity with EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, or other industrial communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of servo tuning, PID control, and closed-loop motion systems.

 

The pay range for this role is $28-$40 per hour. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
