We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Test Engineer to join our team in our Shrewsbury, MA office. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying the performance, reliability, and quality of high-precision motion systems through rigorous testing, measurement, and troubleshooting processes. This role requires a strong understanding of motion control systems, precision instrumentation, and data analysis, along with the ability to work hands-on in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform product verification testing in a production environment. Tests are performed using a variety of precision measurement instruments, including laser interferometers, autocollimators, force gauges, height gauges, and indicator probes.
  • Perform setup and operation of PC-based servo motion control systems.
  • Create final test reports to be included in delivery to customers.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems found during testing.
  • Support production activities as required to achieve the goals of the entire department, with a focus on on-time delivery and excellent quality.
  • Report failures and defect via company quality processes.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on procedure writing, fixture development, process improvements, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and any other measures needed to drive continuous improvements within the group.
  • Support the Service group by performing incoming analysis of returned defective products/systems.
  • Perform data analysis to support KPI tracking.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a technical, manufacturing, or test environment.
  • Ability to perform complex mechanical tasks and perform precision alignments and measurements.
  • Ability to read, edit and use Python.
  • Strong knowledge of motion control principles, servo systems and precision mechanics.
  • Experience with motion controllers, drive tuning, and feedback systems (e.g., encoders, interferometers).

The salary range for this role is $89,100-$123,113. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
