Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. The Manufacturing Engineer will be based in our Shrewsbury, MA location, supporting manufacturing operations. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday. This position will be responsible for efficient and repeatable manufacturing of high-precision motion systems by developing, optimizing and supporting production processes that meet quality and performance standards. 

We manufacture a broad range of products with a mix of high-volume serial production and low-volume, complex machines.  The work presents an opportunity to gain experience with a variety of technologies including air bearings, piezoceramics, electronics, and controls systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to produce motion devices and systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the assembly teams to ensure products are built correctly and on schedule, providing technical guidance and resolving production issues in real time.
  • Assist the Service Group with diagnosing and repairing customer returned products.
  • Develop, document and implement production procedures and tooling to support the transition of products into series production.
  • Utilize 3D Modeling software and the company's PLM system for the design, documentation, and revision control of fixturing.
  • Maintain production records demonstrating traceability to requirements.
  • Assist the warehouse and planning groups with maintaining and optimizing the company's inventory.
  • Ensure the production areas are organized by applying 5S and Lean Management principles.

 

Skills and Requirements: 

  • B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • 2-4 years of relative experience is desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • A love of building mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Demonstrated CAD/3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with basic metrology tools such as calipers, test indicators, and micrometers is preferred.
  • Machining or metal fabricating experience will strengthen your candidacy.
  • Must be able to regularly lift 10-30 pounds and occasionally lift 30-60 pounds.
  • Must be able to maintain prolonged periods of sitting and standing.

 

In addition to technical knowledge, this position requires strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, a team-player mentality and attention to detail.

 

The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $85,000 per year. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
