Role Overview

 

We have an immediate opening for a Buyer/Planner - Machining to work in our Procurement department based in our Shrewsbury, MA office. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.  This position will be responsible for the procurement of materials and equipment to support the machining operation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with machining and manufacturing personnel to define procurement requirements for materials and equipment.
  • Prepare, verify and forward purchase orders to vendors.
  • Verify receipt of materials and authorize payment to vendors. 
  • Administer and reconcile the company credit card purchasing program.
  • Negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
  • Develop new supply sources as needed, including establishing new vendor accounts and credit terms.
  • Qualify and manage suppliers in accordance with ISO-9001 quality program.
  • Monitor cost-accounting activities covering material and production costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels on an ongoing basis and coordinate annual physical inventory count.
  • Manage Kanban inventory systems.
  • Assist Cost Accounting Manager in preparing monthly journal entries for cost of sales and scrap.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing budget costs to actual production costs.
  • Promote the use of the department’s best practices.

 

Skills and Requirements 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Industry experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in purchasing for a machining environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work activities
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills

 

The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 per year. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
