Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for a CNC Machinist and Programmer to work in our advanced manufacturing assembly department based in our Hopkinton, MA location. This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm.  As a CNC Machinist and Programmer, you will play a key role in the production and development of high-precision components used in complex motion and positioning systems. You will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and inspecting CNC machines to produce both custom and standard parts to exact specifications. We work with extremely tight tolerances, often in the micron range, requiring exceptional attention to detail and a deep understanding of precision machining practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Haas CNC mills and/or lathes to manufacture parts to tight tolerances.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
  • Perform in-process inspections and final checks using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, etc.).
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam software (mill, lathe, or multi-axis as required).
  • Simulate toolpaths and validate programs prior to machine execution.
  • Modify existing programs to improve cycle time and surface finish or to accommodate engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop efficient machining strategies.
  • Maintain machines, tools, and workspaces in a clean and safe working condition.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues with machines and tooling.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.

 

 Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC machining and Mastercam programming.

 

Skills & Requirements

  • Proven experience with Haas CNC equipment (VF, ST series, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, feeds, speeds, and tooling.
  • Proficiency with Mastercam (latest versions preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience with various materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless, and plastics.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection tools.
